Parish Paths....update

The County Council has had to review all its services to make the very high levels of budget savings needed to balance its books, including paying more to provide essential services to vulnerable adults and children.

Rights of Way services were included in the review, and following consideration of responses to consultation, there will be a 50% reduction in staffing levels and a £60,000 reduction in budget for 2011/12.

From April 1st 2011 there will not be the resource to run the P3 Scheme in its current format nor will there be any funding to reimburse expenditure.

The County Council is committed to working with communities and the delivery of the outcomes in the spirit of Localism, and at the moment is reviewing how this can best be achieved through effective engagement with Parish Councils and Community groups. A member of the Countryside Access Team will be in touch shortly to talk to P3 Parishes individually to discuss future partnership working.
The County Council appreciates all of the time and effort put in by Parish Council and Volunteer Wardens on P3, which has had many valuable and positive outcomes. It is hoped that such work can be supported and encouraged in the future.
For the immediate future please could you report any rights of way issues via the County Council’s website at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk or to the County’s Contact Centre on 08449 808080.
